Walk along the old Erie Canal or picnic on the bank of the Mohawk River in the A. C. Stevens Vischer Ferry Nature and Historic Preserve. In the town of Clifton Park, the preserve provides level trails along the historic, algie covered, canal. Water fowl of all types are available for viewing. Duck hunting is allowed in open season. Expect to see other wild life as well.

A canoe launch is available on the south-east section of the preserve. From the main parking area, a walk accross the restored Whipple Iron Truss Bridge leads straight along a pond, eventually to the Mohawk River. Right accross the bridge, facing south, is the path that runs alongside the old canal.

Except for the mosquitos, the hikes in the preserve is easy. plaque describing iron truss bridge
